Spain is the fourth country in the world and the second in Europe in number of swimming pools. We find both residential and public pools, all of them add up to a total of approximately 1.300.000. The sector has a solid business fabric made up of some 2.500 companies and 70.000 workers who invoice some 1.200 million euros per year.

We highlight the 3 main lines of the sector: construction (35,8%), renovation (29%) and maintenance (35,2%). Construction continues to be the most important line. However, the growth trend in renovations has increased in recent years.

Type of pools according to their use: On the one hand, there are the companies dedicated to the installation and maintenance of swimming pools in private homes, representing 51,6% of the sector. On the other hand, we find companies focused on swimming pools for public use such as hotels or neighborhood communities, which represent 48.4% of the market. This last typology has been especially punished this year.

The swimming pool industry in Spain focuses its efforts on R+D+i, offering increasingly technological and advanced products, such as:

  • Salt electrolysis equipment (64,6%).
  • Dosing and control systems (41,5%).
  • Automatic pool cleaning robots (39,2%).
  • LED lighting systems (38,2%).
  • Air conditioning by heat pumps (34,9%).
  • Covers and covers (32,5%).
  • Water analysis (27,8%).
  • Liner coating or reinforced sheet (22,2%).
  • Automation and internet of things (21,2%)
  • Water energy saving systems (21,2%).

The sector shows a position of continuous development incorporating new improvements such as ease of maintenance, speed of construction and rehabilitation, low energy consumption and home automation. All these innovations are reflected in greater customer satisfaction.
